Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Our evenings begin with a half-hour children's "Junior Astronomer" program, followed by a discussion about the importance of dark skies and light conservation. Then join NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) Ambassadors for a presentation on the latest news in astronomy. Visitors should bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets. Next, get oriented to the celestial skies with a brief sky tour. Finish the evening by relaxing and enjoying the beautiful night sky. Feel free to bring your telescope or binoculars for your own exploration. Telescope and binocular sharing are discouraged as a health and safety precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Details: Parking fees apply. Entrance gates close one hour after program start time, or when program attendance reaches 100 participants.

Program adjustments in response to COVID-19: Participation will be limited to 100 people. Park gates, and admittance to the program area will close when this limit is reached. Social distancing is required, and facemasks are strongly encouraged. In the event of rain or cloudy conditions, the program will be canceled.
