Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Summer has finally arrived! What better way to enjoy the warmer weather than at your local Virginia State Park? Safe surroundings? Check. Family friendly environment? Check. A good value? Check. So come on out to experience all the fun. Several programs will be offered. Could you build your own house in a couple of days? Try it out during Build a Bird's Nest. Why not become a prospector during our signature Gold Panning program. Help us feed an indigenous turtle during Turtle Time or discover how to spark a fire safely using primitive technology. There's so much to choose from. Be sure to pick-up a Park Adventures brochure at the Main Office or Visitor Center.
