Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

First Day Hikes

Guided Hikes:

-Kid's Scavenger Hunt at 11 a.m. - Kids of all ages will enjoy this Scavenger Hunt on the Shady Ridge Trail.

-Wetlands Hike at 1 p.m. - Join Master Naturalists, Brenda Graff and Judy McCord, to learn about the critters at the Wetlands Viewing Area.

-Bike Hike at 2 p.m. - Sierra Club certified instructor, Bob Piscura, will discuss bike safety and equipment before leading a bike tour of the park and some of its trails.

-Dog Hike at 3 p.m. - Join a ranger on a two mile walk with your four-legged loved ones. First Day Hike bandanas to the first 20 pets. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 ft and you must clean up after your pet.

Self-Guided Hikes:-Go to our events page to view the possible self-guided hikes on our seven miles of trails or to take a virtual or audio tour.

Watercolor Workshop from 10 a.m.-noon - Meet local artist, Harriet Anderson, in the Meeting Facility to create a small painting entitled 'A Walk in the Woods'. A materials fee of $35 is payable in cash on the day of the event. Participation is limited to eight guests. Sign up at https://tinyurl.com/yy8jpkdv
