Wildflower Symposium

Location of Bear Creek Lake State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Bear Creek Hall
Main Park Address: Bear Creek Lake State Park, 22 Bear Creek Lake Rd., Cumberland, VA 23040.

When

April 18, 2026. 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Spring brings so many types of flowers and other flora that it sometimes seems like too many types to get to know. This symposium is a chance to get to know spring ephemerals and other more long-lived blooms a bit better.

The park is pleased to once again host this public activity of the Virginia Master Naturalists Central Piedmont chapter. To begin the day there will be a couple guided wildflower walks. After the walk will be four presentations on the unusual ways wild and native plants reproduce, store food and adapt to environmental challenges.

Registration in advance is required; there are 45 spaces are available. To register, please email Regina Schwabe at gwpchi@mindspring.com.
