Location of Staunton River Battlefield State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Clover Visitor Center
Main Park Address: Staunton River Battlefield State Park, 1035 Fort Hill Trail, Randolph, VA 23962.

When

April 19, 2026. 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Did you know that it takes nine steps to load an American Civil War musket? Join a park ranger as they show off some of the necessary equipment soldiers carried and their different uses, along with showing off a typical infantry soldier's uniform. After that, they will demonstrate all nine steps of loading a Civil War musket in detail, and that does include the most fun part, firing it!

This will be held in the small artillery fortification just a short walk down the Battlefield Trail beside the Clover Visitor Center. There will be loud noises during this program, so please plan accordingly.
