Ever wondered how a beaver’s fur keeps it warm and dry, or how a white-tailed deer communicates within its herd? Get an up-close look at the amazing physical and behavioral adaptations of the animals that call James River State Park home. Using real pelts and skulls, we’ll explore how different species are uniquely built to survive and thrive in the wild. This hands-on program is perfect for curious visitors of all ages who want to discover the hidden secrets of Virginia’s wildlife!

Please meet at the Visitor Center. Suitable for all ages. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather and bring a water bottle with you. Parks are for everyone, please let us know if you need special accommodation.
