June 14, 2026. 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Bring the whole family for a fun and interactive look at how camping in Virginia State Parks has changed over the last 90 years! We’ll explore what campsites were like in 1936 using simple gear, basic setups, and early park traditions and compare them to the comforts and equipment many campers use in 2026. You’ll get to see examples of today’s camping gear, learn how park facilities have evolved, and discover what has stayed the same since the parks first opened. It’s a light, engaging workshop that connects past and present camping at First Landing and across Virginia.
