Like all wild animals, black bears are food motivated. Did you know their sense of smell is seven times stronger than that of a bloodhound? These highly intelligent and curious creatures have no trouble finding an easy meal around humans, which can lead to conflict, but we can change that learned behavior.
Stop by Shelter #1 to chat with local Virginia Master Naturalists who can share a few simple steps on how to avoid human-bear conflicts at home and in outdoor spaces. Let's keep bears (and all wild animals) wild and free!
