Celebrate National Trails Day at Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park.
Looking for a fun way to enjoy nature and explore a local trail? Curious about the amazing ecosystems right in your backyard? Join us for a guided walk along the Big Stone Gap Greenbelt.
This scenic, paved, and mostly flat three-mile loop winds through the heart of Big Stone Gap, offering a perfect opportunity to discover local flora and fauna. Meet our rangers and volunteers at the front gate of the museum and experience the beauty of the trail in your own community.
This program will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes. Registration is not required for this program. For more information, contact the park at (276) 523-1322.
About National Trails Day
On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 44 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
