Main Park Address: Powhatan State Park, 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.
When
May 23, 2026. 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Have you ever wondered what a plant would sound like if it could speak or play music? Do plants communicate with each other? On this special hike, you'll take a dive into the magical sensory world of plant communication and activity, aided by the use of an electrical signal monitoring device that will allow us to listen to each plant's unique musical compositions in real-time! You're bound to be amazed as your senses tune into the incredible pulse of life found everywhere on planet Earth.
What to expect:
The walk will be at a leisurely pace up to 2 miles along River Trail, which is mostly flat. There will be frequent stopping to use the monitoring device to listen to plants. We recommend wearing close-toed shoes and bringing water. Friendly dogs are welcome and must be on a 6-foot leash. If you'd like to bring a stroller, we recommend using an all-terrain stroller. This route cannot be accessed by the park's all-terrain wheelchair.
