Program Location: Parking Area
Main Park Address: Green Pastures Recreation Area, 201 Green Pasture Trail, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

When

Feb. 22, 2026. 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Join us for a special Black History Month program at Green Pastures Recreation Area, a park originally built for African Americans during the era of segregation. This short guided hike will explore the rich history and stories of Green Pastures as we walk along the newly developed interpretive trail featuring seven brand-new interpretive signs.

Along the way, you’ll learn about the park’s unique role in history, its connection to the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), and the community that made it thrive. The hike will conclude at the historic CCC-built picnic shelter, where we’ll gather around a warm fire to continue sharing stories and reflections about this important cultural landmark.
