The Delta Aquarids meteor shower is an average shower that can produce up to 20 meteors per hour at its peak. It is produced by debris left behind by comets Marden and Kracht. The shower runs annually from July 12 to August 23 with the peak for 2026 being the night of July 28th and morning of July 29th. Unfortunately, the full moon will obscure most of the meteors this year. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Aquarius but can be seen anywhere in the sky.

Guests are welcome to gather on the Observation Field during this event and watch for meteors. We recommend chairs or blankets for stargazing during this event because of the wide-open space. Telescopes and binoculars are not necessary. Parking is available in the Visitor Center parking lot, and the restrooms will be open. This is a self-guided program and does not include ranger-led instruction.
