Jan. 3, 2026. 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Get a head start on National Bird Day by joining park staff for a relaxed, family-friendly birding walk.  You’ll learn how to spot common forest birds, listen for songs and calls, and use simple tips and tools to identify what we see and hear along the trail. Afterwards the rangers will have some treats to share.

National Bird Day started in 2002 to highlight challenges birds face (like deforestation, illegal trade, neglect) and promote their protection.

This program is suitable for all ages. Feel free to bring your own binoculars. Please call 804-796-4472 or email Rebecca.Whalen@dcr.virginia.gov for more information.
