This lecture opens up the world of Civil War cavalry and how mounted soldiers shaped the conflict. We will explore the many roles of cavalry, from scouting and screening to raiding supply lines and fighting on foot when the situation demanded it. Come see how tactics changed over time, how equipment influenced what troopers could do, and how mounted soldiers adapted to the challenges they faced. This lively and informative look at the missions and experiences of the these soldiers is suitable for all ages. Stop by the Visitor Center and speak to a ranger anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to start this program.
