Take a guided walk with a ranger alongside golden meadow and frosty forest to find out who is out and about! Winter is here, and so are the winter migrants! For some species, Virginia is their warm winter retreat, while others stay here year-round. Learn about their winter survival tactics and practice identifying them by their appearance, song, behavior, and even environmental context.
The walk will be up to one mile at a slow pace on easy to moderate terrain. Bring binoculars if you have them. If not, we do have a few pairs that can be borrowed. See attached file for a bird checklist to print at home. The trail can be muddy at times, so please dress accordingly.
Register here to let us know you're coming. We will contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
