When

Dec. 4, 2025. 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The full moon has captivated humans for millennia, inspiring myths and folklore as well as scientific discovery. Humans and nocturnal wildlife alike use the moon as a guiding beacon to navigate the dark landscape. On this guided walk, you'll have a chance to marvel at Earth's celestial partner in all its fullness as it rises into the skies above the park's meadows and forests.

The trail will be up to three miles on a mostly flat trail. Participants will alternate between active walking and standing to observe the moon and surrounding landscape.

Please dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, and bring water. If you have them, bring binoculars for moon-viewing and a headlamp or flashlight with a red setting to allow for minimal disturbance of nocturnal wildlife. Red cellophane will be provided to modify standard white light flashlights.

Register here to let us know you're coming. We will contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
