When
Dec. 28, 2025. 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Explore the crops that shaped the economy of the South before, during, and after the Civil War. In this short ranger program, learn how tobacco, cotton, and other cash crops influenced daily life, labor systems, and the course of the war itself. We’ll take a brief look at how these crops were grown, harvested, and sold and why they mattered so much to both civilians and soldiers. This program offers insight into how agriculture connected directly to the conflict and its long-lasting impact on the region. Stop by the Visitor Center and speak to a ranger anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to start this program.
