Sept. 27, 2025. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
National Public Lands Day is the perfect occasion to breathe new purpose into an old kiosk, transforming it into a welcoming point of engagement for visitors. Volunteers gather to honor and enhance shared outdoor spaces, and restoring a kiosk becomes both a symbolic and practical effort. From sanding and repainting sun-faded panels to replacing outdated maps and signage, the work blends history with community spirit. Come volunteer to help restore and transform the kiosk at Oxbow Lake here in St. Paul, Virginia. Meeting for this event will be at the Oxbow Lake parking lot. Please bring water and wear closed-toe shoes as we will be working with tools. We hope to see you there!
About National Public Lands Day
Virginia State Parks celebrates National Public Lands Day each September by inviting volunteers and visitors to take part in the largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the country. Join in preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the state’s public lands through a variety of hands-on activities, including trail maintenance, tree plantings, invasive species removal, litter clean-ups and educational programs on the importance of conservation. Parking fees are waived at most Virginia State Parks for National Public Lands Day (excludes Grayson Highlands and the admission fee at Natural Bridge and Southwest Virginia Museum).
