When

Aug. 2, 2025. 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Seine fishing is an ancient practice that utilizes a net to surround and catch fish. Watch a ranger demonstrate the technique and stick around to hear some amazing facts about the creatures they pull out of the water.

This program will take place at Fossil Beach. To get there, hike down Big Meadows Trail until you reach the beach. The trail is 0.6 miles long. You will hike downhill all the way to the beach and uphill all the way back. Watch out for roots, wear appropriate footwear, and bring sunscreen, bug spray, and plenty of drinking water. There are no restroom facilities at the beach, so we recommend stopping off at the Visitor Center on your way to the trail.

Seining group gathers to learn how to use the seining net to reel in species from the river!
