Join us for an evening exploring the diversity of Virginia's native nocturnal wildlife.

Erin Shibley, Program Coordinator with the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, will present an interactive program about the behavior and ecological benefits of bats and other nocturnal animals. Towards the conclusion of the program, we'll listen for bats along the river by using echolocation recording devices. We'll also have bat-themed activities for kids to enjoy.

This program is open to all ages. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

A quarter-mile hike on easy terrain may be required to pick up echolocation sounds on the recording device. Sturdy shoes and a flashlight or headlamp are recommended.

Registration Required. Call (540) 622-2262 or email megan.goin@dcr.virginia.gov to reserve your spot. Space is limited. Don't wait to register.

This program is hosted by the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park. For more information about the Friends Group or to donate to support this park directly, please click here.
