Join us for an afternoon of fun, crafts, and nature exploration for kids and families.
Activities include:
- Plant Pounding Craft: The vibrant colors of leaves and flowers are easy to preserve by pounding them to release their natural dyes onto paper.
- C.S.I.: Creek Scene Investigation: get in and get wet as we look for macroinvertebrates and other stream critters. Please wear rain boots or water shoes.
- Junior Ranger Activities & Ceremony: Earn your junior ranger badge through a variety of programs and fun family activities.

About National Kids to Parks Day
Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
