Get ready to hit the trails and embark on an adventure like no other as we celebrate National Trails Day at Holliday Lake State Park! Before you start hiking, make sure to stop by the Park Office (open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) for a chance to chat with our knowledgeable rangers. They'll be available to provide you with valuable information about the park and essential trail safety tips.
Take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions, learn about the park's unique features, and get insider tips on the best trails to explore. Our friendly rangers are here to help ensure you have a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience. Pick up a trail map to help guide your adventure and discover hidden gems along the way. With detailed trail information at your fingertips, you'll be ready to navigate the park with confidence.
You may want to help protect Holliday Lake’s precious ecosystem by picking up trash along your hike. The Park Office can provide you with gloves, trash bags, buckets, or grabbers to take along with you. When you return, we will give you a Virginia State Parks free parking pass as a thank you for helping clean up our trails.
Want to learn about the trails as you hike? Join our rangers for approximately 1-mile guided hikes:
11 a.m. – Saunders Creek Hike, meet at the Boat Launch
3 p.m. – Northridge Overlook Hike, meet in front of Shelter #1
Please note that the guided hikes may be cancelled due to inclement weather, but the park is always open dawn to dusk, and the Park Office’s hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

About National Trails Day
On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day®, an annual event sponsored by the American Hiking Society encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 44 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
