Explore the wonderful world of salamanders with a ranger at Mason Neck State Park. From Spotted to Slimy, Mason Neck is home to several species of salamanders. Though often overlooked, these curious creatures play an important role in the park's ecosystem. Come ready to flip some logs, dig through leaf litter, and learn more about Virginia's salamanders! This guided hike is around one mile long along a dirt trail, please bring water and wear comfortable shoes. 

A Marbled salamander lays on a moss covered log. The salamander has dark brown skin with blotches of blue-gray and it glistens with a coating of slime.
