This program is designed as introductory lesson for first time participants. Archery instructor Chief Ranger Hillborn will show you the basics of archery including finding your draw length, proper safety and shooting techniques, and more!
The age requirement is 10-17 years old. This 1.5 hour program is limited to 6 participants. Pre-payment and pre-registration is required for this program. You can pre-register here. This program is $10/participant and includes all essential equipment. Participants must use park provided bows and arrows. You can pre-pay by calling the Visitor Center at (540)288-1400.
Parents and guardians must remain with their children throughout the duration of the program.
On the date of the program, you must check in at the front desk inside the Visitor's Center where the ranger on duty will sign you in and direct you to where the program is being held. Make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes!
About National Kids to Parks Day
Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
