For Earth Day, come to Widewater State Park and learn about the Potomac River Basin in the Chesapeake Bay watershed! From a raindrop in the sky, to a river and the sea, our water resources are vital to the health of ourselves and the environment.
Using an Enviroscape watershed model, this program highlights the water cycle and human interaction with the environment; focusing on water quality, types of pollution, and conservation along the Potomac River.
This program is in Shelter 3 at the Potomac Picnic Area.
About Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 44 parks.
