Celebrate Girl Scouts Love State Parks Day by participating in activities at Douthat State Park and work on completing requirements for different badges!

3 p.m. - Half a Hike Adventure: Take a half of a hike with a park ranger. We will collect leaves along the way to identify and use to make a wonderful work of art. This will help Girl Scouts meet requirements for their Daisy-Shapes in Nature Badge. Closed-toed shoes are required. Meet at the Discovery Center.

5 p.m. - Insect Detectives: Scurry on over to the Discovery Center to investigate the secret life of a bug. Learn how important these tiny creatures are to our ecosystems. We’ll catch bugs of all shapes and sizes and then view them under magnification. This will help Girl Scouts meet requirements for their Brownie Bugs Badge.

8:30 p.m. - Owl Prowl: Join a ranger to learn about how beneficial owls are to the environment. We'll try calling the owls closer to hopefully get a good look. Make sure to wear closed toed shoes. Meet us in the parking lot of the Douthat Lakeview Camp Store. Space is limited so sign up in advance at the main office. This program will help Girl Scouts meet requirements for their Cadette Night Owl Badge.
