Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Interpretive Center

Join us for an evening presentation at 7:30 in the interpretive center.  Dr. Bruce Kimmel will present a fascinating audio-visual presentation on our local bats and how the Virginia Master Naturalists Banshee Reeks Chapter is monitoring their populations. At 9:00p.m. we'll gather behind the Interpretive Center for Northern Virginia Astronomy Club (NOVAC) members to orient us with a brief sky tour and look at deep space objects through their telescopes. Red cellophane and rubber bands will be provided to cover flashlights. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the magic of the park after dark.
