Calling all homeschoolers and curious kiddos of all kinds! On the first Tuesday of each month, you are invited to join a ranger at Powhatan State Park to learn all about the amazing things happening in our surrounding environment. Each month, the topic of exploration will be inspired by the seasonal happenings around us during that time. We may take you on an exploratory guided hike, a nature scavenger hunt, or play a nature-themed game...one thing is for sure, we'll always have fun and learn new things.

On our guided hikes, learners are encouraged to explore at their own pace and discuss each of their discoveries along the way. Our seasonally designed nature scavenger hunts can add an exciting element to the hikes as well. Games help children and adults alike understand the complex relationships found within the natural world. Check out our park's Instagram and Facebook pages to see photos from past events.

The program costs $3 per student. To register, call or visit the park office between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to pay by credit card, cash, or check. Call the park office at (804) 598-7148. Email powhatan@dcr.virginia.gov with any questions.
