Victorian Parlor
When
April 9, 2024. 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
For centuries, people of many cultures have read the signs of the moon and constellations for their garden and farming practices. The reading of these signs has played a crucial role in culture of Southwest Virginia and the central Appalachians, as well as the agricultural success of the region. Today, while far fewer than in the past, there are still many folks in our communities that keep up with the signs of the Zodiac for things such as planting beans, digging post-holes, clearing brush, and even cutting hair!
Participants who register for the “Sign of the Time” workshop will join park staff and volunteers for a fun-filled evening learning about farming and gardening by the moon, and stars, just in time for the 2024 planting season. Participants will take home a calendar and journal to keep track of all their gardening needs.
All supplies and materials are included.
Registration and payment are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
