Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

The local Crewe Astronomy Club will bring their hi-tech telescopes and amazing video presentation about our planet, our solar system, and our universe to the visitor center. Learn about the constellations, gaze upon planets in our solar system, see close-up views of the moon's mountains, and observe far off nebulae and galaxies.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own telescopes and may also look through the Club Astronomers' hi-tech telescopes. Even if the weather doesn't cooperate, the extraordinary indoor presentation is worth watching. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
