Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Join the Rangers on this hike through time and put yourself in the shoes of those who came before us. On this short, 1 hour hike you will learn all about the Chesapeake Tribe of Virginia Indians, including how they used their natural resources to survive. While learning about the tribe that helped shape First Landings significance, discover what it means to maximize your use of the land around us. Please note that safety and effectiveness of this hike are of the Rangers top priority. If attendance for this hike exceeds a limit that would interfere with these objectives than attendance may be capped.  history
