January 10th is National Save the Eagles Day. Did you know - At one point in history, there were less than 500 nesting pairs remaining in the continental US? This alarming decline led to various conservation efforts being put into place to protect and preserve our national symbol.
Join us in the parking lot outside the train depot where we will have a spotting scope set-up for viewing our resident eagle nest/pair. Sightings aren't guaranteed, but they are common this time of year. We will also have a table set-up with interesting information about the birds of New River Trail and the unique natural history of the Bald Eagle.
