Let’s learn about bats! Do you know what species of bats inhabit the Piedmont region of Virginia? One way to identify bats is through their calls. Bat calls are usually pitched at too high a frequency for humans to hear naturally. However, they can be heard or recorded using our bat detector, which will assist us with species identification. We will also discuss bat behavior and ways to protect this important creature in our ecosystem. This is the perfect way to celebrate a Halloween icon – the bat. Please meet at the visitor center.
