Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Discover nature through the eye of your hand. Join the Park Ranger as we explore the outdoors with a sketchbook and pencil, taking note of the world of the woods around us. 

This one-hour event is also a great opportunity for scouts who are working on completing their Art merit badge.

Pre-registration required. Limit 20 people per program. FREE. All programs will start at the Visitor Center.

How to Register: Please leave a message on the Visitor Center answering machine (540) 288-1400 with your name, number of people in the group, and your contact information as well as the name, date and time of program. We will call you back to confirm your spot. Registration over emails will not be accepted.
