When

May 20, 2023. 1:15 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Are you interested in learning about the most common and rare fossils that can be found along the James River? Why is it that we are able to find so many fossils here?

This program is a special introduction to the variety of fossils that adorn the Chippokes shoreline and allows guests a chance to familiarize themselves with the possibilities before hunting for shark teeth.  Meet at the Quayle Classroom.  Stick around after this program if you're interested in our Excursion: Fossils of the James program where an interpretive guide will lead you down to the river and Fossil Beds of Chippokes in hopes of finding shark teeth!

A shark tooth, in the sand, bigger than a quarter.
