Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Chippokes State Park is proud to partner with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for Clean the Bay Day! Now is the time to mark your calendar. You can help us with this important initiative by participating in our Clean the Bay Day - Beach Clean Up. Virginia's water ways and their health directly influence us, our communities, our wildlife, etc.
Answer the call to volunteer and help keep our shorelines clean and safe for others to enjoy.
Meet at the Visitor Center for instructions and supplies (gloves, available trash grabbers, trash bags. etc.). Be sure to collect as much trash as you can carry as Rangers will weigh each bag and item collected from the beach.
