In celebration of International Beaver Day, Bear Creek Lake State Park is offering a day dedicated to our favorite rodent, the American Beaver. Throughout the day, different Castor canadensis themed activities and programs will be planned.
10 a.m. & 3 p.m. Beaver Hike: We will walk through the forest along the lakeside to see one of our resident beaver dams. Once we get there, we'll talk about how the beaver built the dam and how it changed the area into something magnificent that provides a safe home for a wide variety of other animals while helping to sustain our watershed. There is no fee to participate. Meet at the Lakeside Snack Bar. Participants must wear closed-toe footwear.
2 p.m. Touch Table: Swing by the Ranger Table at the Lakeside Snack Bar to see and feel some beaver related items.
12 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. Beavers on Film: Gather for a presentation of an entertaining documentary that will reveal the life of a beaver family to provide a closer, heart-warming look into their habitat. There is no fee to attend. There will be multiple screenings throughout the day at Bear Creek Hall.
