Kids to Park Day

Mason Neck is excited for Kids to Parks Day 2023! This year marks the 13th anniversary of Kids to Parks Day, an annual day of outdoor exploration at local, state, and national parks and public lands across the country, we hope to see you here at the park.

11:00 – 12:30: Backyard Bass. Make learning to cast an exciting activity! Backyard Bass are fish-shaped plastic casting targets. They are made to make learning to cast enjoyable and simple. Cast for the fish with the Casting Plug while they are on any flat, smooth surface or in the water (they do float). You can pull in one of the fish with a strong cast.

12:30 and 1:30: Sensory Hikes on the Bayview trail. We all occasionally need to pause and view the world from a different angle. By using all of your senses while hiking, you'll have the opportunity to experience the surrounding natural environment in a completely new way.

2:00 - 3:00: Pelts and furs table talking about the wildlife you can see in the park. Join a Ranger from Mason Neck State Park as we set up a table of pelts and furs and talk about the wildlife you can see when you visit Mason Neck State Park and touch a real fur!
