On April 6-7, 1865, High Bridge became a victim of the American Civil War. While General Lee was retreating from Petersburg, the Union army decided to form a task force to destroy High Bridge in an effort to keep the retreating Confederates on the east side of the Appomattox River. However, their mission did not go as planned. Find out how the story unfolded on the 158th anniversary of the Battle of High Bridge.
This historical hike will cover approximately 0.8 miles on even terrain. All ages are welcomed.
