Night programs in a day use park are a special treat, especially in the high heat of summer. This evening event is a partnership program with the Central Piedmont Virginia Master Naturalists (CPVMN). Moth Week is an international event where participants survey their local moths and report their findings to a central database used in monitoring the distribution of moth species. If you are someone who loves the beauty of moths as they gather around an outdoor light, you might find Moth Week even more exciting that Shark Week!

We will set up a light station near the start of High Bridge, and the CPVMN participants will photograph and identify the moths that it attracts. Members of the public are invited to participate and meet members of our local chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists. This is a great opportunity to see citizen science in action. You will be impressed by the stunning beauty and variety of moths. For more information, contact highbridgetrail@dcr.virginia.gov.Moth Night Light Tent at HBTSP
