With nature as your inspiration, think about the very special and diverse insect species we have in Virginia. Insects create the biological foundation for all terrestrial ecosystems. They cycle nutrients, pollinate plants, disperse seeds, maintain soil structure and fertility, control populations of other organisms, and provide a major food source for other taxa.

Create an artwork with the art supplies provided, to take home with you to remember your visit to Westmoreland State Park or have it displayed permanently inside our Discovery Center.

The outdoor classroom is located directly behind the Discovery Center.
