Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.
National Trails Day Hoover Mountain Bike Trail Maintenance

In celebration of National Trails Day, New River Trail will be hosting a trail maintenance morning at Hoover Mountain Bike Complex. The complex consists of four miles of trail broken into three easy trails and five moderate trails. The park will provide tools and safety items such as gloves and safety glasses. Volunteers will need to provide water and lunch. The maintenance to be completed includes cutting back the edges of the trails and smoothing out any rough areas along the trails. Volunteers are welcome to bring their mountain bikes to try out the trails after the project is completed.
