Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Water tells a different story everywhere, even between our state parks! Join us to learn and practice different water quality testing techniques with water samples from other Virginia State Parks and see if you can solve where each sample came from. This program is ideal for participants ages 10+ and requires pre-registration through the park office to include a $5 charge which covers all supplies. This is one of three in the Expedition Environment series where completion of all three will earn the participant a special series sticker. This program will meet at the outdoor classroom off the car top boat launch parking area.
