With wonderful pollinating butterflies as your inspiration, draw or paint a Monarch butterfly!  Westmoreland State Park tries to support pollinator species such as the Monarch butterfly by caring for multiple Monarch Waystations and pollinator gardens and fields.  These places are a great resource for observing these extraordinary pollinators at work.

The monarch butterfly is one of the most recognizable and well studied butterflies on our planet earth. Its orange wings are laced with black lines and bordered with white dots. These butterflies are quite famous for their transcontinental migration, millions of monarchs migrate from the United States and Canada south to California and Mexico for the winter. We have started to see Monarch butterflies in flight around the park.

Create an artwork with the art supplies provided, to take home with you to remember your visit to Westmoreland State Park or have it displayed permanently inside our Discovery Center
