Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Happy New Year and Happy Hiking! Please join rangers this year for Mason Neck's First Day Hikes. All throughout the day Mason Neck will be leading ranger led hikes for children and adults. The adult hike leads to the marshes where Tundra Swans have arrived from their long journey. The hike is approximately 2miles. The children's hike takes place on Bay View Trail and is a 1 mile loop .

11 a.m. Children's Bingo Hike on Bay View Trail
12 p.m. Tundra Swan Hike at the Woodmarsh Trail at Elizabeth Hartwell Refuge

2:30 p.m. Tundra Swan Hike at the Woodmarsh Trail at Elizabeth Hartwell Refuge
Friends of Mason Neck State Park will be providing hot beverages for the Tundra Swan Hikes. Please call the Visitor Center at 703-339-2380 or email MasonNeck@dcr.virginia.gov to register for the Tundra Swan hike. Parking is limited .
