Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

It also means it is festival season in Virginia, and as the leaves begin to drop with the temperatures we all enjoy going to our favorite Virginia State Park.

Virginia State Parks (October 18, 2015 07:32:36 PM): Most of our parks are happy to make those arrangements for you. Only about 1/4 of our parks have year-round full time program staffing but nearly all parks can accommodate groups most of the year. We have the most staff on board between late spring through September. Call the park directly and ask. If you run into problems, contact me at nancy.heltman@dcr.virginia.gov.

Tara or Chad Bacon (October 18, 2015 07:14:29 PM): interested in learning if you offer any homeschool days for small groups?
