Antennaria howellii ssp. neodioicaHowell's PussytoesSun, Part, ShadeMoist, DryHerb1.5SpringNoNo
More Detail
URL: http://vaplantatlas.org/index.php?do=plant&plant=528
Synonym: Antennaria howellii ssp. neodioica, Antennaria howellii ssp. neodioica, Antennaria howellii ssp. neodioica
Digital Atlas Name: Antennaria howellii Greene ssp. neodioica (Greene) Bayer
Habitat: Dry forests, woodlands, rock outcrops, and clearings. Limited herbarium and field studies indicate that this taxon is scattered in the mountains, inner Piedmont, and n. Piedmont generally. However, because of widespread lumping of members of the Antennaria howellii complex and A. neglecta in Virginia floristic studies, extensive herbarium work is needed to sort out the distribution and status of individual taxa.

Synonym: Antennaria neglecta, Antennaria neglecta, Antennaria neglecta
Digital Atlas Name: Antennaria neglecta Greene
Habitat: Dry forests, clearings, meadows, and fields. Currently documented from numerous counties of the mountains and Piedmont; however, due to widespread lumping of members of the Antennaria howellii complex and A. neglecta in Virginia floristic studies, an undetermined number of these records are referable to the A. howellii complex. Extensive herbarium work is needed to separate records of A. neglecta s.s. from those of the various taxa of A. howellii.

URL: http://vaplantatlas.org/index.php?do=plant&plant=1814
Synonym: Antennaria parlinii ssp. fallax, Antennaria parlinii ssp. fallax, Antennaria parlinii ssp. fallax
Digital Atlas Name: Antennaria parlinii Fern. ssp. fallax (Greene) Bayer & Stebbins
Habitat: Dry forests, woodlands, clearings, meadows, and road banks. Because this taxon has been subsumed into Antennaria plantaginifolia in most Virginia studies, its distribution and status are incompletely known, and herbarium studies are needed. Confirmed records indicate a wide distribution across the state; ssp. fallax appears to be considerably less frequent than ssp. parlinii.
Synonyms: [= FNA, K, X, Z; = A. plantaginifolia (Linnaeus) Richardson var. ambigens (Greene) Cronquist - C, G, R, SE; W.Va.; = A. fallax Greene var. calophylla (Greene) Fernald - F; > A. calophylla Greene - S; > A. fallax Greene - S; < A. parlinii - Pa., W]

Habitat: Dry forests, woodlands, clearings, meadows, and road banks. Because this taxon has been subsumed into Antennaria plantaginifolia in most Virginia studies, its distribution and status are incompletely known and herbarium studies are needed. Confirmed records indicate a wide distribution across the state; field studies indicate that ssp. parlinii is frequent, at least in the Piedmont and lower mountains. In some areas of the Piedmont, it is demonstrably more common than A. plantaginifolia.

Synonym: Antennaria plantaginifolia, Antennaria plantaginifolia, Antennaria plantaginifolia
Digital Atlas Name: Antennaria plantaginifolia (L.) Richards.
Habitat: Dry forests, woodlands, barrens, clearings, meadows, and road banks. Probably frequent to common throughout, but because this taxon has been lumped with both varieties of Antennaria parlinii in most Virginia studies, extensive herbarium studies are needed to sort out the relative distributions and status of the three taxa.
