Share your Flood Story

Share your flood story

It takes the whole community to collaboratively plan and implement solutions in response to the challenges of flooding.

DCR’s Flood Story form allows you to share information about how you have been impacted by flooding. Using an online form, you will share:

  • Where flooding occurred
  • Photos of the flooding event
  • What type of flooding it was
  • How often you see flooding in that location
  • How the flooding impacted you

Submit your flood story

You don’t need any special applications to submit a flood story, and you can access the form via a desktop browser or mobile phone.

After you submit the form, your flood story will be reviewed and approved by DCR staff. Once approved, it will be added to the Virginia Flood Risk Information System (VFRIS) and the Flood Story web viewer. Your contact information will not be shared.

Your story helps DCR to craft effective flood prevention strategies and informs the Virginia Coastal Resilience Master Plan and the Virginia Flood Protection Master Plan created by DCR.
