Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Thanks to the Friends of Sky Meadows, you can enjoy viewing the Perseid meteor shower under the dark skies of Sky Meadows State Park. For $25/car, arrive between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., and stay to watch the event until 5:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required. Event is limited to 100 vehicles. Tickets include activities at the Astronomy for Everyone program, located in the Historic Area, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. By 11:00 p.m., all ticket holders must relocate to the park Picnic Area for viewing until 5:30 a.m.

Food will be available for purchase from the Friends of Sky Meadows. No vehicles will be admitted after 12:00 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, no refunds will be granted, but the $25 will be considered a donation to the Friends of Sky Meadows. No alcohol is permitted per park regulations.
