The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park is now accepting entries for its “Stitch in Time” Quilt Show.

By May of 1775, men, women, and children headed west, deep into the harsh wilderness.

Chippokes State Park is proud to partner with the Back Bay Amateur Astronomers Club to introduce a special dark night sky and stargazing opportunity for all to enjoy. Club members will use their telescopes to share the night time sky with park visitors.  Visitors will be free to ask questions, observe, and look through telescopes during this public viewing outreach event.

Put your mountain biking skills to the test at Shenanduro, a Virginia State Park Adventure Series race! All competitors will check in at the south end of the park, located near Downriver Canoe Company (884 Indian Hollow Rd, Bentonville, VA 22610).

Begin your canoe and kayak adventure with a rite of Spring on the Chesapeake Bay.  Burning socks is a tradition among sailors near Annapolis.  We will not need them with our water shoes.  Please bring a pair of natural fiber socks for the ritual fire.  Then, join us for the first paddle of the season.  Cost.

Celebrate National Kids to Parks Day at Twin Lakes. This year, Twin Lakes will is offering the following free programs, which meet at the Discovery Area, previously known as "The Spot" or the concession building: 10 a.m. - Lake Explorers  The edges of our lakes feature a tiny world teeming with life.

Come out and explore nature using tools like the park rangers use to investigate the park's wildlife in this self-guided adventure. Use your current outdoor skills and develop some new ones too as you learn to use binoculars, a magnifying glass, butterfly nets, and a compass to discover our park in a brand new way!

Embark on an aquatic adventure "going up the food chain" through educational explorations and outdoor games.

Kids to Parks Day is a nationally coordinated day designed to connect kids and families with their local, state, and national parks.

Enjoy the great outdoors with High Bridge Trail for a full day of programs for kids. Each program will begin in the Camp Paradise Access area.

Kids to Parks Day at First Landing is a time for fun and exploration in your local slice of nature.

The Friends of Twin Lakes State Park is hosting its second annual 'shellebration' of World Turtle Day® with the following activities: turtle-themed games and face painting, a 'shellfie' station (with wearable turtle shells!), a turtle-themed craft, and visits from turtle experts with live turtles, as well as the beloved local 'shellebrity' Ranger Myrtle the turtle.
